Multiple trailheads surround the lake offering numerous starting points and early drop-outs. The main trail traverses the lake perimeter for approx. 32 miles but there are a variety of side trails and field roads that allow out-and-back variations or loops to bring you back to where you started. Keep an eye out for hikers and horses around some of the blind turns and blazing downhills!

Top-off the day with an apres ride pint at Ganley's Pub at the intersection of Brownsville Road and State Hill Road.

Don't forget spare tubes!! Tight & technical with lots of rocks and roots. The rocky & wild single track hidden within this State Park will keep you grinning around every turn. Camping within the park also offers the opportunity for an epic weekend.

Main trailheads are located at Shed Road and the 2 lake parking areas within the park. Trails are clearly marked with painted blazes, but grab a map at the ranger station to help keep you on course and off of the restricted trails.

Enjoy a pack-in snack along side one of the park's 2 lakes or drive into Birdsboro for a slice at one of the town's 5 pizza shops.

Reserve a full day for the exploration of the trails on Mount Penn, located South East of Reading. From Antietam Lake to the infamous Pagoda overlooking Reading, there are numerous natural and historic sites to take in while exploring this trail system. There is an emphasis on "Explore," since many of these trails are not marked and if you aren't familiar with the area you might want to hook up with a local that knows where they're going.

As the setting for a regional downhill race each year, Mt. Penn doesn't discriminate – these trails prove that XC, Downhill and Free Riders can coexist.

A good starting point is the dirt lot at Antietam Lake. From there the trails crisscross paved roads, offering early drop-out points.

Stop at Bixler's Lodge in Stoney Creek for a refuel and a pint of locally brewed Legacy Beer.

Along with the demise of the area's rich railroad history came an opportunity to preserve the interweaving network of abandoned railroad grades – connecting communities and creating regional recreation thoroughfares. The Thun Trail – as part of the Schuylkill River Greenway Trail that will eventually connect the northern reaches of Pottsville, PA to Philadelphia – is the local example of this revolution in trail development.

Relatively flat – and at times paved – this ride is a great opportunity for a full day family outing. Trailheads at the end of Old Wyomissing Road in West Reading and off of Morgantown Road (Rt. 10) offer great starting points.

With it's proximity to the Morgantown Road parking area, Trooper Thorns Irish Beef House is a no-brainer for the after ride snack in an authentic Irish Tavern atmosphere.

A flat, lazy ride alongside the Schuylkill River prepares you for the gradual climb along the ridge of Neversink Mountain to a breath-taking overlook of South Eastern Berks County. A majority of the land and trails on Neversink are owned and managed by the Berks County Conservancy – further ensuring protection from development.

A detailed map is available on the Conservancy's website (link at left) which shows multiple trail heads to access the network but, one of the more popular starting points – that gives you the flat preamble along the river – is the gravel lot for the Schuylkill River Trail, accessible from Gibraltar Road in Exeter Twp.
